SUSAN HAGEN

Ms. Hagen has described the intent of her work as one of combining layers of meanings in a rich and complex object. There is an earnest exploration of the meaning of myth in contemporary urban experience. Her pieces are carved in limewood and painted in deep colors with luminous oils that follow the contour of the cut wood. Executed in a flawless technique her work combines tradition and craft, with a visionary and expressive content. The artist, Susan Hagen, was schooled in Minneapolis and at Cranbrook in

Michigan.
